The Easter gift: The gift of the cross

“Hey; get anything for Easter?” “Yeah. I got eternal life.” “Right. How’d you get that?” “The man on the cross gave it to me.

“Hey; get anything for Easter?”

“Yeah. I got eternal life.”

“Right. How’d you get that?”

“The man on the cross gave it to me. He said that those who believe in Him, though they die yet shall they live and that those who believe in Him shall never die but shall have eternal life.” (John 11: 25,26 paraphrased)

“And you believe that?”

“I believe it. He arose from the dead; he appeared to more than 400 people after he arose; disciples who were so afraid they ran and hid behind locked doors suddenly had the courage to abandon that fear - they spoke openly about the resurrection even though it led to their martyrdom. Yes; I believe it.”

“What is this eternal life? Will I live forever?”

“Jesus, the one who was crucified and arose from the dead described eternal life: that we may know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom God the Father sent.” (John 17:3 paraphrased)

“Bet that cost you something?”

“Not at all; It is a free gift available to all and it cost nothing.”

Confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord; Believe in you heart that God raised Him from the dead and you shall be saved. You will have eternal life.

Forgive me Lord for I am a sinner.
