Letter: Ukrainians thank Airdrie family for supporting their daughter

I am writing to express my gratitude. In deed I can’t find words to appreciate your kindness. We want you to feel our gratitude because real feelings aren’t expressed in words, but in the soul.

Dear editor,

This letter is for the Smahas, Glenn and Jessica, from the family of the two Ukrainians they helped support in recent weeks.

I am writing to express my gratitude. In deed I can’t find words to appreciate your kindness. We want you to feel our gratitude because real feelings aren’t expressed in words, but in the soul.

Thank you for sheltering our children during such a terrible and difficult period. There is a real and horrible war in our country. There isn’t any safe place here. Russian troops kill Ukrainian women, men, and children every day. They destroy our houses, streets, and whole cities. It’s awful. We don’t even know whether we have tomorrow.

We thank you and your country for your kindness, caring, reliability, humanity, and warmth. People like you make this world better. God bless you!

We’ll always remember your kindness and would be happy to pay you back one day. We are very grateful to you. We send you warm wishes of joy and happiness.

P.S. Dear Jessica, hug my daughter, like I did.

Yours sincerely,

Jenny’s parents, Olga and Alexander
