It looks like the idea of a bike path connecting Airdrie to Calgary is going to be looked at. May I point out to those involved that we live on the prairies, which is not a mild and temperate climate. If a right-of-way does exist, would it not be put to better use building a light rail or bus rapid transit (BRT) route? This would relieve some of the pressure on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway.
Who will maintain this right-of-way? How will emergency vehicles access it to treat cyclists with hypothermia when it’s -40C?
When we solve our transportation issues, then maybe we should consider it. But please ask the question, how many folks would ever use this?
