You’ll notice some new content in this week’s edition of the Airdrie City View and our website, AirdrieTODAY.com.

With this issue, our newsroom is excited to launch a trio of new features, which we aim to produce monthly. Among these is a new history column by reporter Carmen Cundy – A View to the Past – which will explore the unique history of Airdrie and its landmarks.

We are also introducing music reviews by reporter Jordan Stricker – View Reviews – which will delve into either full albums or select songs. Our intention is to explore and promote music that is produced locally or regionally. As a testament to this, the first piece reviews the just-released album of Art Bergmann – an Order of Canada recipient who lives just west of the city, in Rocky View County.

Lastly, we are introducing an informal Q&A series called Qs with the View by editor Scott Strasser. These magazine-style interviews will feature conversations with prominent Airdrie residents, whether it’s charity directors, business owners, sports team coaches, educators or others. If you have any suggestions for future Q&A subjects, we encourage you to email them to [email protected]

We are also excited to bring back the Airdrie Public Library’s Book Page this week. This monthly addition will include synopses of select reads, which are all accessible through APL’s collections.

Lastly, you’ll also notice an increased page count in the paper this week, courtesy of the return of our quarterly magazine supplement – Airdrie House & Home. In addition to a profile on the Airdrie neighbourhood of Midtown, this year’s summer edition boasts a few other in-depth articles, including pieces on affordable backyard pool alternatives, cat patios and how to create the perfect backyard kitchen. We hope these articles kick-start your imagination on how to create the perfect summer for your household in 2021.

(If you're reading this online, Airdrie House & Home articles will be released this weekend).

We feel newspapers should boast a variety of content and stories. With the launch of these features, we aim to increase the variety of the content found in our pages.

Thank you for reading.
