Irene Elsie Magnus passed away peacefully at her AgeCare Skyview home in Calgary on July 8, 2022 at the age of 89 years.  She died just five days before her 90th birthday.  Irene is pre-deceased by her husband, Carl Magnus, and her daughter, Lila Magnus.


 

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Carol (Hank) Schurink, her daughter, Beth (Vic) Neufeld and her grandchildren, Michelle Walker and Scott Schurink, great grandchildren, Isaac Schurink, Faith and Evie Walker, her sisters, Beth Dibben and Gwen Miller, and her brother John (Freda) Miller.


 

Irene was born in Loreburn, Saskatchewan. She received her Registered Nursing degree in Regina and enjoyed nursing at the Regina General Hospital and St. Therese Hospital in Tisdale, Sask.  When Irene and Carl had children, she stopped nursing and devoted her life to raising her children and enjoying life with her husband on their farm in Saskatchewan, until they retired and moved to Oliver, BC.  Over the years, Irene enjoyed being involved in church activities such as teaching Sunday School, Pioneer Girls' Club, and ladies Bible study. Irene's hobbies included reading, sewing, knitting and gardening.  Her favorite places included parks, church, her garden, and being beside a river or lake.  Irene loved birds, beautiful scenery, and nature.


 

Irene will be remembered for her deep faith in Christ, for her kind and caring words and actions, for her wit and sense of humor, and for her beautiful smile and easy laughter.


 

A funeral celebration of Irene's life will be held at the Oliver Alliance Church in Oliver, BC on Tuesday August 2, 2022 at 10 a.m.
