ROTH, Joyce Claire

It is with great sadness that the Roth family announces the passing of Joyce Roth of Calgary, AB on Saturday, September 19, 2020. After a lengthy illness, Joyce is reunited with her husband, Harry, and daughter, Deb.

 

Joyce was born on March 30th, 1935 in Crossfield, AB, and grew up in Madden, AB, with her three sisters and one brother. Joyce married Harry Roth in 1955 and moved to Burstall, SK. There they had two children, Deb and Ken. In 1968, they moved back to Madden and took over the Massie family farm until 2008, where they retired in Airdrie.  Joyce and Harry were avid snowbirds who enjoyed driving to Arizona for over twenty-five years where they made many lifelong friends. After Harry’s passing in 2015 Joyce moved to Evanston Summit, where she and her family made many new friends.

 

Joyce was active in the Madden community and shared many friendships with the families in the area. She especially enjoyed social activities with family and friends. Joyce was always around for a cup of coffee or a game of cards, large puzzles were usually on the go. She was a very talented cook in the kitchen, cooking for many harvest meals and big family gatherings.

 

Joyce is survived by her son, Ken; daughter-in-law, Tamara, son-in-law Allan (Sammy) Gundlock; three grandsons, Brandon, Christopher, and Tyler; and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Harry, daughter Deb,  parents, Jack and Lydia Massie, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis (Melvin) Farquharson, Jean (Keith) Cochrane, Doris (Don) Wyman, and her brother and sister-in-law, Dale (Beth) Massie.
