Cozens has five-point game as Canada whips Belarus 11-1 at U18 worlds

UMEA, Sweden — Dylan Cozens had a five-point game to lead Canada to an 11-1 rout of Belarus on Sunday at the world under-18 hockey championship.

Cozens scored two goals and added three assists. Nathan Legare and Alex Newhook also had two goals apiece while Connor Zary, Jordan Spence, Braden Schneider, Peyton Krebs and Samuel Poulin added singles.

Canada, which has opened the preliminary round with three victories, outshot Belarus 60-42.

Vitali Pinchuk had the lone goal for Belarus.

Canada will play the Czech Republic on Tuesday at the A3 Arena.

The playoffs begin Thursday and the medal games are set for April 28.
