The George McDougall Mustangs Senior Varsity Boys Volleyball team season ended in fairy-tale fashion on Nov. 25, as the boys were crowned provincial champions for the first time in 18 years.

The Bronze Gloves Provincial tournament is for novice boxers who have a minimum of two bout experience. 

Proceeds go to support the team.

Airdrie medalists included silver and double bronze medalist Xavier Johanson for the 50 metre freestyle, 50 metre backstroke, and the 50 metre butterfly, and bronze medalist Hadley Schneider for the 50-metre backstroke.

Airdrie’s four Team Bellegarde Dragons Muay Thai fighters went undefeated during last weekend’s “Trial By Fire 14” event at the Airdrie Martial Arts Centre.

“There's definitely a little bit of rivalry because each team definitely wants to win, just for the bragging rights,” said Andrew McPherson, charities president of the Airdrie Professional Firefighters Association. “But at the end of the day, the common goal is to get as many donations into the bins prior and during the game to help out the Christmas hamper program to support Airdrie and local Airdrie and area families during Christmas.”

Kyle McDonough is one of the youngest players on one of the best teams in the Western Hockey League.

8th annual Grannyspiel takes place this weekend.

Langdon's Shelby and Makayla Boisjoli finished with an aggregate (AGG) rank of sixth and 12th in the CFR Ladies Breakaway Roping event, while Crossfield bullrider, Tyler Craig, finished with an AGG rank of 12th in the bullriding event.
