The overall winner of the fifth annual Triple Crown Stock Dog Event was Jimmy Walker of Texas with his dog Angie.

Walker also took home second in the open with his other dog, Mitch, while Wendy Schmaltz’s dog Gin earned bronze.

For his efforts, Walker earned a $1,500 pay cheque and a belt buckle donated by Giles Bulk Fuels.

“He didn’t win every event, but he did well enough,” said event founder Wendy Schmaltz of Walker’s performance.

The three events, Old Dog Ewe Tricks, Cattle Trial and Sheep Trial were held from July 2 to 10 in Olds and Irricana.

In the nursery group, for up-and-coming dogs, Donald Grant of Bowden took first place with his champion dog Jeff. Second place went to Schmaltz’s dog Creed and Grant’s second dog, Brutus, took third.
