Bow Valley’s Lady Bobcats defeated the Springbank Phoenix to win the varsity girls Tier 1 divisional championship on Nov. 6.

Bow Valley won three out of four sets: 31-29, 25-16, 17-25 and 25-22.

“They were not committed to playing as an overall team; however, they decided to flick on the light switch and they pulled it off,” said Bow Valley’s coach Glen Brooker.

Every player in the game had his ups and downs, Brooker explained.

“It was a relief to win. Our skill wasn’t there and we weren’t firing on all cylinders,” said Brooker.

Bow Valley wrapped the season with a 7W-1L win, loss record.

Next, Bow Valley will face Bert Church and Foothills in south central zones on Nov. 19 and 20 at Foothills Composite High School.

“We definitely need to play as one and improve our passing,” said Brooker. “Otherwise, we are going to be in a lot of fights for the rest of the year.

“I am confident we have the ability, but you never know what is going to happen in girls’ volleyball,” he said.

In the Tier 2 division, the Cochrane Cobras won gold and the Beiseker Bandits received sliver, after three sets.

In the Junior Girls final, Bow Valley Bobcats won against Chestermere Lakers in three straight sets.
