The Town of Cochrane began its new automated waste and recycling program with the delivery of its first carts to a local family, Aug. 15.

Three men were cycling Aug. 14 on eastbound Highway 1A when a vehicle drove past and an unknown person threw live fireworks at them. The incident took place at about 11 a.m., two to three kilometres east of Grande Valley Road near Cochrane.

By a 4-1 vote, council approved the re-grading of a lane and installing a concrete swale to allow drainage to flow from an alley to Third Street. The project will cost $23,345 and will be funded through the Town’s 2011 operating budget.

The population of Crossfield may grow by as much as 50 per cent as council recently approved a rezoning application to allow for an additional 600 homes.
