Two men have been charged with production of a controlled substance and arson after a lengthy investigation by Airdrie RCMP and the Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) into an explosion at a home on Kings Heights Rd. on Jan. 31.

The results are in and Airdrie is now home to 54,891 residents, according to the 2014 Census. Sharon Pollyck, manager of Legislative Services, presented the results of the 2014 Census to Airdrie City council on Aug. 5.

Airdrie drivers will need to get used to seeing road construction crews out on city streets this summer as a number of projects are set to get started over the next few weeks.

Airdrie City council unanimously voted to create a new Public School Liaison Committee at their regular meeting on Aug. 5. The committee will bring together representatives from the council and each of the three school boards in Airdrie.

A number of Cochrane Lake hamlet residents have decided to petition a letter from Rocky View County sent out on June 25, notifying them of an Local Improvement Tax (LIT) as a possible long-term solution to the extensive flood issues at the lake.

Curbside waste collection fees in Langdon will increase from $12.50 per household per month to $20 per month beginning Oct. 2.
