An Airdrie woman suffered bruises and a scrape following a home invasion in the city’s southwest, July 29 at 10:45 p.m.

An unidentified man entered a Prairie Springs residence following a verbal confrontation with the woman.

The man began assaulting the woman before her two dogs stepped in to fend him off, while she ran upstairs.

The woman’s 17-month-old child was upstairs at the time of the incident and was unharmed during the home invasion.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 30 to 40 years old, 6’1”, with a receding hairline and shoulder length dirty blonde hair. He was clean-shaven. The man was wearing a worn-out looking brown jacket and jeans that appeared too big for him. He also had sunglasses on his head.

Airdrie RCMP responded to a Stonegate residence on July 30, when a call came in about a four-year-old girl falling from the home’s second story window.

Neighbours saw the girl fall, provided her with first-aid and phoned 911.

The girl was found unconscious but breathing when RCMP arrived. She suffered leg injuries and was taken to a Calgary hospital for further treatment.

RCMP are reminding parents and caregivers to keep a close eye on young children.

Police suggest child-proofing your house and making sure there are not objects or items children can climb on to reach windows.

The child has since been released to the parents and no charges will be laid.

On July 29 at 4:20 p.m., Airdrie RCMP and Alberta Sheriff Highway Patrol attended a hit and run accident on Highway 2 just south of the Highway 72 overpass.

A blue 2008 Pontiac Wave was heading south when a motorcycle cut in front of the car at 170 km/h and forced it off the highway.

The motorcycle continued south on the highway.

The Pontiac Wave was undrivable and was towed away from the scene.

Traffic was restricted for 30 minutes following the incident and police are still searching for a suspect.

If you have information on any crime, contact the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
