What started as a complaint of someone using a stolen credit card, resulted in the arrest of two men and three youths Jan. 28, after 1.5 pounds of psylocibin (known as magic mushrooms) and 28 grams of cocaine were found in their vehicle.

On Jan. 28, Airdrie RCMP responded to the stolen credit card complaint at the McDonald's restaurant on Edmonton Trail, according to a Feb. 4 release from the detachment. A search of the vehicle incidental to arrest resulted in the seizure of the drugs, which Media Relations Officer Gina Slaney said constituted a "pretty significant" amount of magic mushrooms.

Agout Atak Agout, 20, of Calgary, was charged with obstructing a peace office and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He also had outstanding arrest warrants out of Lethbridge, according to RCMP. He has been remanded into custody and will appear in Airdrie Provincial court on Feb. 6 (after press time).

Bol Atak Agout, 18, of Calgary, was charged with obtaining food by fraud and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was released on conditions and will appear in Airdrie Provincial court on Feb. 27.

The three youth were also charged with obtaining food by fraud and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
