At 11:27 a.m. on June 8, the Airdrie RCMP responded to a 911 call regarding a home invasion that had occurred in a residence on Springdale Circle.

The female caller advised that earlier in the morning she and her boyfriend had been confronted by two unknown men who had entered into their home. The suspects, who were said to be armed with knives, assaulted both occupants of the home and stole a wallet and a cell phone from the couple.

The 17-year-old girl sustained minor injuries when she was pushed and slashed by a knife held by one of the assailants. The 22-year-old man sustained non-life threatening injuries in the course of the assault. The man was transported to Calgary hospital to be treated for injuries to his legs and one hand.

One of the suspects is described as a Caucasian man in his late 20s, about 5’6” tall, with a stalky build and a goatee with a bit of hair on his jaw line. He is said to have brown eyes and was seen wearing a blue hat, blue hoodie, jeans, BMX gloves and running shoes. This man spoke with an accent. The second suspect, an Asian man, is described as 5’6” tall, with a slim build, about 120 pounds and in his 20s. This suspect had a faux hawk and did not have facial hair. He was seen wearing a white blazer, black tie, black rimmed glasses and white latex gloves.

Police do not believe that this was a random incident; the assault and robbery was a targeted event. At this time the suspects whereabouts are unknown, RCMP continue to investigate.

On June 5 at 10 p.m., the Airdrie RCMP received several 911 calls from witnesses of a hit and run collision in the northbound lanes of Highway 2 near the CrossIron Mills mall.

Witnesses reported a black Honda Civic was changing lanes when it clipped a white pick-up truck. Both the suspect vehicle and the white pick-up continued driving. RCMP eventually located the suspect vehicle travelling westbound on Yankee Valley Boulevard just east of 8th Street in Airdrie. The suspect vehicle was stopped and the female driver, a 23-year-old resident of Airdrie was charged with impaired driving.

At this time, police are still looking for the driver of the white pick-up truck involved in this collision. The RCMP is urging the driver to come forward to provide information on the collision. The pick-up sustained minor damage in the collision and likely has black paint transfer from the suspect vehicle.

On June 2, the Airdrie RCMP were notified of a break, enter and theft that occurred at the Royal Canadian Legion at 508 3rd Avenue SE.

Sometime between June 1 at 6:30 p.m. and June 2 at 9 a.m., suspects entered the building and stole thousands of dollars.

The Airdrie RCMP and Calgary Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate.

On June 3 at 2:08 a.m., the Airdrie RCMP and Calgary RCMP Police Dog Services responded to an alarm call at Liquor On The Way, located at 504 East Lake Boulevard.

Upon arriving at the business, police discovered that a white Dodge Ram pick-up was used to back through the garage door of the liquor outlet’s warehouse. Suspects were not on the scene when police arrived.

Witnesses report seeing three men inside the warehouse wearing hoodies that were synched around their faces. An undisclosed amount of liquor was stolen from the business; the value of the loss and damages exceeds $5,000.

Investigators have learned that the pick-up used in the course of this crime had been stolen earlier from a residence in Airdrie. The Airdrie RCMP and the Calgary Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.

Between the dates of June 4 and 5, the Airdrie RCMP received 16 complainants of thefts and mischief to motor vehicles.

Thieves targeted several vehicles for items left inside including loose change, electronic equipment and tools. The incidents occurred in various parts of the city.

Police are reminding residents to remove all valuables when leaving motor vehicles unattended, to ensure vehicles are properly secured and parked in well lit, high traffic areas.
