Two charged in kidnapping investigation

Two men have been arrested in connection with a kidnapping involving a firearm.

According to a press release, Airdrie RCMP responded to an incident June 2 where an adult male was kidnapped in Calgary.

“The victim was subsequently assaulted and was able to flee the suspects in a rural area. He sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital,” the release stated.

On June 11, the RCMP's Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (SAD CRU), with the help of the Calgary Police Service (CPS), arrested Ojullo Ojullo, age 25, and Mohammed Khidir, 30, in connection to the incident.

“Police do not believe this was a random incident and are not seeking any further suspects in this investigation,” the release stated.

Ojullo has been charged with kidnapping, robbery and extortion with a firearm and possessing and pointing a firearm while being prohibited.

Khidir, meanwhile, was charged with kidnapping and robbery with a firearm.

Both men were remanded into custody and were scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court June 19.

According to the release, during the course of arrests, Deng Jacob Keuch, 22, was arrested and charged with unrelated offences.

Keuch is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous, possessing a prohibited weapon without a license and failing to comply with conditions. He was placed in custody and is scheduled to appear in Calgary Provincial Court on June 23.
