A driver who fled the scene of a June 29 collision that left at least one person with minor injuries, is wanted by Airdrie RCMP.
The incident incident occurred at approximately 6:10 a.m., northbound on Highway 2 and Highway 567, according to an RCMP release. A vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 2 was hit from behind by an SUV, causing the vehicle to roll. The driver of the SUV, according to RCMP, then fled on foot.
“The SUV caught fire and was put out shortly with the assistance of the fire department,” the release stated.
The lone driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended, according to police, was transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Traffic was diverted for several hours while emergency services cleared the scene, the release stated.
Cpl. Gabrielle Spencer said there are a number of charges that could be potentially laid for fleeing the scene of a crash, from a violation ticket to criminal charges, "but it all depends on the circumstances.”
RCMP continue to investigate the identity of the SUV driver who fled the scene.
