Rocky View Schools’ (RVS) Superintendent of Schools Greg Bass announced the appointment of Susan Poole as principal of Cochrane High, effective Aug. 26.

“I am very excited to have Susan join the administration at Cochrane High,” said Bass.

“As principal of Bow Valley High for the past three years, Susan has demonstrated all of the core competencies of a great 21st Century leader and has proven she understands the complexities of high school programming. She will fit in well with the Cochrane High school community; I look forward to seeing her excel in her new role.”

Poole arrived in Rocky View Schools from the Calgary Board of Education in 2007, where she served as an assistant principal at William Aberhart High School. Her journey with the urban board saw her serve as a teacher at Ernest Morrow Jr. High, James Fowler and Crescent Heights.

In 2002, she was appointed to assistant principal at Lord Shaughnessy, moving to Centennial High in 2004 and William Aberhart in 2006.

During her time with Bow Valley High, Susan has created opportunities and choice in programming for students by playing an active role in the Cochrane Steering Committee, as well as welcoming Alberta Education to the school to conduct a Value Added School Review.

In 2003, she earned a Masters of Education at the University of Lethbridge. She also holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta.

“Susan is a tremendous asset to our jurisdiction,” said Board Chair Sylvia Eggerer.

“On behalf of the board, I extend my congratulations and look forward to her continued leadership.
