Airdrie RCMP is continuing to investigate the fire that took place Sept. 15 in the 100 block of Stonegate Close, and is asking for public assistance.
"Residents in that area are asked to check any video surveillance they may have that could aid in this investigation," a press release from the detachment stated.
The fire occurred at roughly 2:30 a.m. the morning of Sept. 15. According to Airdrie Fire Department Chief Kevin Weinberger, the department received multiple 911 calls around that time.
AFD's press release about the incident stated that, upon arrival at the scene, fire crews discovered signs there had been a blaze burning between a fence and a two-storey residence. By the time crews arrived, the fire was mostly but not completely extinguished, Weinberger said. According to the press release, a neighbour had doused the flames with a garden hose.
"[The fire] ran from the outside of the house in between the yard and the house, made a gap up the siding [and] got into the eaves a little bit," he said, adding the incident was nevertheless a timely reminder to make sure yards are free of flammable debris.
No one was injured in the fire and Weinberger said the Fire Prevention Bureau is still investigating the cause.
"Our firefighters looked for extension into the house. There was no major damage in the house except some smoke up in the attic."
