Just before noon on Oct. 3, Airdrie RCMP arrested a 67-year-old man after multiple reports of an intoxicated driver on Highway 2 southbound.

The senior from Chestermere was found in his car in the Safeway parking lot. RCMP said his blood-alcohol content was three-and-a-half times over the legal limit. Police have laid drunk driving charges.

A $2,000 BMX bike was stolen off the front porch of a Prairie Springs home Oct. 1 in broad daylight.

The incident occurred sometime between 10:45 a.m. and 1:25 p.m., according to Airdrie RCMP.

The bike has bright yellow plastic rims and spokes, yellow handle bar grips and the seat has dark grey duct tape over it.

On Sept. 28 at about 7:30 p.m., Airdrie Rural and Beiseker RCMP were dispatched to Crossfield where kids were allegedly throwing rocks at a man’s truck.

A 38-year-old Crossfield man allegedly grabbed a 14-year-old boy, pinned him to the ground by his throat and threatened to harm him.

Police are requesting information from anyone who may have seen the incident.

On Oct. 3, Airdrie Rural RCMP responded to a call in Crossfield of Murdoch Park being damaged.

A park representative informed police they believe an unknown person drove through the park in the evening of Oct. 1.

The suspect appears to have used the vehicle to ram through fences and into garbage bins. Based on the size of the fences, police said the vehicle likely has extensive damage.

The Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) would like to remind the public of the RCMP drug tip line at 403-945-7222.

Const. Robert Frizzell said to date, police have received multiple tips from various people that have gone a long way in keeping our community safe.

“Due to the confidential nature of the tip line, we can’t go into specific details, but suffice to say the tip line has been instrumental in various arrests and seizure of drugs,” he said.

“In addition, Crime Stoppers has continued to play vital role in keeping our community safe and the RCMP fully support the program.”

The Airdrie drug tip line allows additional means for the community to contact police officers specializing in drug activity in the community.

Any person with information on suspicious activity is asked to contact either tip line and confidentiality will be maintained.

The new office hours for the Airdrie RCMP detachment are as follows: Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. other than statutory holidays beginning Oct. 11.

If you have information on any unsolved crime, contact the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
