On Jan. 5, the Airdrie RCMP requested the public’s assistance in solving a series of thefts from a local liquor store.

Police have now released a photo of the man believed to have committed the thefts as well as thefts from other local businesses. Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.

Throughout the month of December 2010, an unknown man entered The Real Canadian Superstore Liquor Store and stole multiple bottles of liquor over a period of several visits. He would select several bottles of liquor, proceed to a reclusive area in the store, and place the liquor into a backpack. He would then select additional items and proceed to the checkout to pay for them.

From Feb. 21 to 26, police believe he committed five more thefts from the same store.

“This is a very brazen guy for him to commit the exact same crime, with the exact same M.O. at the same store,” said Cst. Rob Frizzell.

“If you recognize this person or know him, please call us, he could be doing this in other areas as well.”

He is described as a Caucasian man, 6’2” with an average build, wearing dark clothing and carrying a black backpack.

On March 14 at 11:49 p.m., the Airdrie RCMP responded to an alarm at the Kimmer Convenience Store on Veterans Boulevard.

Officers noticed that suspects had smashed glass from a door window in effort to gain entry. Suspects had fled from the scene and patrols made in the area failed to locate them.

The cost of the damage sustained to the business in the course of this crime is believed to be less than $5,000.

“If anyone heard a loud noise or saw someone hanging around that they disregarded at the time, we ask you to call the police because every bit of information could help with the investigation,” said Frizzell.

Anyone with information on any unsolved crime is asked to contact the Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
