Police Notebook: Man murdered, body dumped near Kathyrn

A man who lived in the Airdrie area was found murdered near Kathyrn, April 22. At about 3 p.m., Beiseker RCMP responded to a report of a deceased person in a field near the intersection of Highway 566 and Range Road 274.

A man who lived in the Airdrie area was found murdered near Kathyrn, April 22.

At about 3 p.m., Beiseker RCMP responded to a report of a deceased person in a field near the intersection of Highway 566 and Range Road 274. The body was fully wrapped in a blanket.

An autopsy conducted by the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man as 37-year-old Erick Joseph Danis and determined the death to be a murder.

Police will not release the cause of death because they say these details may be important in furthering the investigation.

In addition the details of how long the deceased was at the location where he was found and specifics on the blanket and condition in which he was found will also be not released. Danis was previously known to police.
