Two Airdronians were arrested for trafficking cocaine, April 30.
Airdrie RCMP and its law enforcement partners concluded a weeklong undercover operation called Project KOWHIDE targeting local cocaine traffickers, last week. As a result of the operation, two people were arrested after Calgary and Red Deer RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant in Luxstone.
Thirty-year-old Andre Mpika was found in the residence and charged with two counts each of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime, and five firearms related offences. Mpika was remanded into custody.
Twenty-year-old Andrea Werner was charged with two counts of Trafficking a Controlled Substance.
In the course of executing the search warrant, police located a sawed-off shot gun, a powder substance believed to be cocaine and property associated with drug trafficking.
Project KOWHIDE was a joint operation including the Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), the Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) and General Duty Members, and Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) Street Enforcement Team, made up of Calgary Police Service and RCMP.
On April 28 at 4:18 a.m., Airdrie RCMP responded to a complaint of two youth breaking into vehicles parked along a street in Luxstone.
Police located two young men rummaging through vehicles. The two suspects were arrested without incident and charged with various property offences. In the course of the investigation, the RCMP was able to recover property believed to have been stolen from various vehicles parked throughout the city.
Police would like to return the property to the rightful owners.
