COCHRANE— Celebrating the summer season and the Cochrane community, "Movie Under the Stars" found success raising funds for the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank.

The drive-in movie featured the Pixar film Onward and saw more than 200 vehicles on Saturday (June 6) visit the Spray Lakes Family Sports Centre parking lot.

Young Professional Rotary Club of Cochrane head representative Ryan Baum said the drive-in movie was able to collect enough food donations to fill a cargo van and raised around $550 for the Food Bank. The funds raised by Movie Under the Stars are being matched by Medsource.

A GoFundMe was set up in tandem with the drive-in movie and garnered $2,100 in donations.

The money raised will be used to aid in the Food Bank expansion project.

Baum said another drive-in movie is planned for July 1 for Canada Day.
