Airdrie RCMP have arrested four Calgary women after an attempted theft and bear spraying incident March 31 at the Cooper's Town Promenade Shopper's Drug Mart.
"Four females were observed sitting in a vehicle in the Shoppers' Drug Mart parking lot," a press release from the detachment stated. "Two of the females got out of the car and entered the store. They proceeded to fill two bags with perfume and then attempted to leave the store without paying."
Store employees managed to get the perfume back and followed the women to their vehicle, at which point one of the women sprayed an employee with bear spray, according to police. The four fled and, shortly after, were involved in a collision on the west end of Airdrie, where they were arrested without incident. All four women now face charges of assault with a weapon and theft under $5,000
