UPDATE:
Following the Sept. 28 incident in which a construction worker in Airdrie died following a motor vehicle collision along First Avenue N, a GoFundMe page was set up for the family of the man who died.
The page identified the man who died following complications stemming from a heavy equipment accident as Prince Owusu, adding he was the father of two young children.
"Please consider donating anything you may be able to help the family pay for expenses for the funeral, medical costs, time away from work and other unforeseen costs," read the page.
"Prince was a vibrant and loving father and will be missed ever so dearly by all who have had the luck of meeting him."
As of 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, the page had raised $3,590 of a $10,000 goal.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Airdrie RCMP officers and fire department personnel are currently on scene at the site of a fatal motor vehicle collision on First Avenue between 8 Street and Edwards Way.
According to the detachment, the collision occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m.
"Investigation revealed the collision involved a dump truck and a construction worker who had been working on the roadway," Airdrie RCMP's press release stated. "Upon police arrival, EMS declared the construction worker deceased.
"The driver of the dump truck was uninjured. Officers are still on scene conducting their investigation and the area will remained closed at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased."
No further information will be released.
