Airdrie Rural RCMP is on the lookout for a man who allegedly stole a charity donation box from the Tim Hortons in CrossIron Mills mall Feb. 1.
According to police, the man entered the restaurant at about 6:30 p.m., grabbed the donation box from the counter and fled the scene.
He is described as "possibly Caucasian," with an ear piercing, and was wearing a black ball cap and printed black and white scarf at the time of the theft.
Airdrie RCMP Media Relations Officer Cpl. Gina Slaney said a theft of this kind is unusual for February.
"It's not something that I've heard of recently," she said. "We do hear about it in the media lots during the Christmas season, with the Salvation Army boxes, but I can't recall anything like this recently in Airdrie."
