Rocky View County is seeking residents to fill positions on several boards and committees this fall.
“We have a number of committees with council members and a number of residents on them as well as a number of recreational boards,” said Wendy Kelly, administrative assistant for Rocky View County. “The boards are for one to three year terms and there are various time commitments.”
Boards and committees often include both council members and residents. The maximum time commitment is one meeting every three weeks.
“(People should) investigate what is involved for the time commitments before they agree,” said Kelly.
The positions are volunteer, but some pay mileage and a per diem allowance.
“Boards and committees are an integral part of council’s governance model, and are made possible by the many dedicated people who volunteer their time and energy to serve in their community,” said Sandra Peterson-Keyes, Rocky View County municipal secretary. “Residents can make a difference by helping to shape municipal policy through volunteering their time and experience.”
Application forms are available at www.rockyview.ca or at the County office, and are due Oct. 1.
