Child approached by man in truck

RCMP are warning parents to keep a vigilant eye on their children after there was a report of a man attempting to lure a child into his truck in Airdrie.

RCMP are warning parents to keep a vigilant eye on their children after there was a report of a man attempting to lure a child into his truck in Airdrie.

After a boy was dropped off by his mother at school, a man asked the boy to get into his vehicle before the boy walked into the school.

Police are calling this an isolated incident and said the community isn’t in immediate danger.

The suspicious man was said to be driving a blue truck.

The RCMP is encouraging parents to educate their children about strangers and what to do if they are approached by someone they do not recognize.

“Develop a list of ‘strangers and friends’ and talk about what to do in the event you are approached by a stranger to help them understand who is safe to speak and engage with,” said Cst. Rob Frizzell.

RCMP is asking for public assistance in locating the vandals who defaced Airdrie Koinonia Christian School, Sept. 10.

Spray paint was used on a school bus, windows were smashed on the building and an exterior wall of the school was tagged with the word “injustice.” Clean up costs are estimated at less than $5,000.

On Sept. 14 at 9:30 a.m., Airdrie RCMP responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle in a ditch at the intersection of Township Road 285 and Range Road 292.

When officers arrived, they found a man unloading contents from the vehicle, which was discovered to be stolen, he was arrested without incident.

Police have charged Brent Kosolofski, 46, of Calgary, with multiple offences including two counts of theft, two counts of possession of stolen property and multiple counts of failure to comply with court orders.

Kosolofski will appear in Airdrie Provincial Court Sept. 23.

If you have information on any crime, call Airdrie RCMP at 403-945-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
