Alberta has 107 new cases, five more deaths

Five more people in Alberta have died from COVID-19.

On Friday afternoon, Alberta’s chief medical officer Deena Hinshaw announced five additional people had passed away from COVID-19 in the province, bringing the total to 18 across the province

An Edmonton-area woman in her 20s has passed away from COVID-19 and it is unknown if she had any underlying conditions.

The other four additional deaths that happened overnight were at the McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre in Calgary. There are now eight deaths at this facility from COVID-19.

The total number of cases in the province has hit 1,075, with 107 confirmed since Thursday.

Of these cases, 196 people have recovered, which is 22 more than Thursday.

About 137 of these cases are suspected to be from community transmission, which is an increase in 29 from Thursday.
