Airdrie Rural RCMP officers are investigating the theft of jewellery at a CrossIron Mills mall store this week.

A press release indicates officers responded to the scene at 12:25 p.m. on Jan. 17. According to the release, two men with face coverings entered a jewellery store at the Balzac-area mall, and store employees reported one of the men jumped over the counter, broke into a display case, and stole several gold chains.

“The second male suspect remained at the front of the store to keep watch,” the RCMP stated.

The first suspect is described as a light-skinned man with a medium build. He wore a brown baseball cap, a red face covering, a camouflage jacket, and grey sweatpants.

The accomplice is described as a light-skinned male with a slim build. According to RCMP, he wore a grey baseball cap, black framed glasses, a black mask, black jacket, and blue jeans, with black shoes.

“Both suspects were seen fleeing the area in a small, dark-coloured, early 2000s two-door Honda, possibly a Honda Civic,” the RCMP stated. “The car had white custom rims.”
