A 65-year-old man from Mission, B.C. was arrested in Airdrie on Nov. 27 after being investigated for exposing himself to minors at a local hotel earlier this year.

According to Airdrie RCMP, officers were called to Main Street at approximately 8 p.m. to assist with an Alberta Sheriff who was conducting a traffic stop. The detachment's press release stated the vehicle had been stopped for a traffic violation, but the sheriff had determined the driver was a person of interest in a recent indecent act investigation.

The act stems from June 11, when Airdrie General Investigations Section began investigating allegations of a male having committed an indecent act by exposing himself at an Airdrie hotel. According to RCMP, the alleged offences occurred when there were children swimming in the hotel pool.

Robert Antonin Andel, a resident of Mission, B.C., has been charged with multiple offenses, including an indecent act and two counts breach of probation.

"Andel was brought before a Justice of the Peace and elected not to speak to bail," RCMP stated. "He is being held in custody, and is to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on Dec. 1. Andel was bound by a probation order at the time of the offence."

According to previous coverage from the Vernon Morning Star, Andel previously served jail time after driving a stolen pick-up truck into a Vernon home in 2010. He pleaded guilty in 2012 to one count possession of stolen property and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. According to the newspaper, Andel was sentenced to 35 months in jail, as well as a two-year driving prohibition.
