Crews with the Airdrie Fire Department (AFD) responded to a possible arson at the Fas Gas Plus on Main Street in the early morning hours of Nov. 25.
According to a press release, the report of a structure fire at the filling station was received by the department at approximately 5 a.m.
"Fire crews arrived at the scene to find smoke throughout the interior of the single-storey convenience store/gas bar," said the release. "Upon entry, AFD found a small fire, which was quickly extinguished. Crews then used power fans to ventilate and remove smoke for the area.'
No injuries were reported, the release stated, but RCMP and the Fire Prevention Bureau (FPB) are looking into the possibility that the blaze was started deliberately.
"Initial investigation has determined that suspect(s) broke into the business and started the fire," read a statement provided by Airdrie RCMP. "Fire investigators and RCMP are still on scene and the investigation is continuing."
