Access Mental Health expands to areas outside Calgary

Access Mental Health
Access Mental Health, a non-urgent telephone service for mental health and addiction resources, has expanded to include all Calgary Zone residents outside the city of Calgary.

All residents living in the Calgary Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS) now have a single point of telephone contact to access addiction and mental health resources.

According to a release from Alberta Health Services (AHS), Access Mental Health – a non-urgent telephone service available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – recently expanded and is now available to all zone residents living outside the city of Calgary.

Program clinicians – who are familiar with both AHS and community-based programs – will explore options with callers, according to the release, and direct or refer them to the most appropriate local resource to meet their needs. Resources include addiction and mental health clinics in Airdrie, Banff, Black Diamond, Bragg Creek, Calgary, Canmore, Chestermere, Cochrane, Didsbury, High River, Okotoks and Strathmore.

Zone residents living outside Calgary can reach Access Mental Health toll-free at 1-844-943-1500. Non-urgent voicemail messages can be left after hours and will be returned the next business day. Calgary residents can continue to call Access Mental Health at 403-943-1500.
