Of late, a neighbour is allowing her two cats to roam the neighbourhood at will. I’ve asked said owner to keep the pets in the house or in her own yard by whatever means necessary, but this hasn’t happened.
I’m still picking up cat feces and not liking it at all, so I thought I’d check out Airdrie’s Animal Control Bylaw. The bylaw outlines the responsibilities of cat ownership, including ensuring cats have and wear a cat license when outside the home (starting from when they are three months old), and that the animals do not run at large.
I’d wager a large percentage of these cats aren’t licensed – luckily, that can be quickly resolved by phoning bylaw and turning the cats in.
If the felines bugging you are licensed, the bylaw allows for cat trapping and can result in the owner being fined.
I like cats… I just don’t like your cats in my yard.
