Name-calling not in the best interest of the community

Re: “Anti-everything is not in the best interest,” letter, Feb. 19 Dear Editor, Name-calling does not solve problems, it makes them worse. [The letter] is the case of when you have nothing valid to say, so you try to paint everyone with worn-out terms such as "anti-everything" or "NIMBY." To do so is analogous to referring to everyone and anyone who ever wanted to build a home as "pave everything" – equally nonsensical terminology. It is not my intention to voice an opinion on Indigo Hills. I do note, however, the letter-writer omitted that of local residents who expressed a viewpoint to the development, 95 per cent were opposed. He then strongly criticized Coun. Samanntha Wright for complying with the clear wishes of the people she was elected to represent. Isn't that her job? Isn't that why she was elected? I have not followed the Indigo Hills matter closely enough to have a valid opinion on it. However, the letter convinced me Rocky View County residents – Bearspaw residents in particular – are very fortunate to have Wright as their elected representative. It is most refreshing to think there are still a few elected people who don't think they "know better" than those who elected them. Jerry Arshinoff Former RVC Councillor
