Langdon residents will be able to get some face-time with their local government representative later this month.

On Jan. 31, Rocky View County Division 7 (Langdon) Coun. Al Schule will be hosting a public open house to answer residents questions. The open house will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Track Golf Course, located at 333 Boulder Creek Drive.

While he's held these open houses before, Schule said this will be his first in-person iteration since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic nearly three years ago.

The multi-term councillor said he expects a range of topics and questions to be brought forward, such as the County's recently approved 2023 draft budget or manners pertaining to local policing.

“I tried to get one done last year but the timing didn’t cooperate,” he said. “I’m looking forward to giving a chance to residents to ask any questions about the County, whether it’s taxes, roads, policing, or whatever.

“There will be staff there taking notes. If they have questions or concerns, there will be people from most departments there and they’ll be able to have one-on-one conversations with them.”

Interested Langdon residents are welcome to attend, and light refreshments, such as coffee and doughnuts, will be provided.

Even though it's admittedly outside the local council's jurisdiction, another topic that could arise is the status of the hamlet's Canada Post office, which was slated for closure after Dec. 31. While it's still open, Schule said the post office is set to close at the end of January.

“The only thing I understand is that many calls have been put into the MP,” Schule said. “The last I heard, our MP is forwarding those calls to the appropriate minister. Hopefully they do something. It’s really depressing that you can’t get a straight answer from Canada Post.
