Over 150 people came out to Irricana on Sunday morning to celebrate the official grand opening of the Meadowlark Trail – a non-motorized, 9.75-kilometre pathway that links the communities of Beiseker and Irricana. 

Collaborating with Irricana FCSS (Family and Community Support Services) and the Irricana Municipal Library, new residents' welcome packages aim to engage with newcomers and foster a sense of belonging within the small rural community.

“I am very excited,” said Jeannette Richter, a Beiseker resident and the president of the Meadowlark Trail Society, which helped spearhead and oversee the trail's development. “Some of us started this when our hair was brown, and now it’s white. It’s been a long time.”

The Irricana Classic Car Cruise rolled through town on May 13, providing vehicle enthusiasts a plethora of hot rides to check out.

Local students and youths in Irricana have been invited to take part in a Town-run photography contest for a chance to win one of three prize baskets and have their photo displayed on the municipality’s Facebook page.

The Town of Irricana is organizing the event, and this year, they've added exciting new features.

The community of Irricana hosted its annual Easter egg hunt near the Irricana Lions Community Hall on April 1.

“[The hunt] is always tons of fun for the kids and the adults to run around and gather eggs,” Swanson told the Rocky View Weekly.

“We are pleased to announce that the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted and that our water is safe for normal use," stated the Town's CAO, Doug Hafichuk, in a statement.

All three councils have passed motions confirming their interest in such an arrangement, and have directed their respective CAOs to pursue negotiations.
