Visiting Peru was a life changing experience for Airdrie resident Heather Leslie. The beauty of the land, the culture and history of the people and the many sacred sites awed her as did the spiritual leaders she met on the 10-day trip in May.

Airdrie Public Library’s Summer Reading Program (SRP) wrapped up for the year with an amazing balloon sculpture built for us by our favourite balloon artists, Chris Burylo and Stephon Diachuk.

An Airdrie vocal trio is in the studio working hard on its first CD. Kindred, composed of local singers Theresa Wasden, Sheila Ross and Andrea Morton, will be releasing its debut CD Kindred Hearts in November.

The City is presenting the inaugural Airdrie Fest, a community festival showcasing Airdrie community organizations and businesses, Sept. 11.

FortisAlberta donated two power monitors to Beiseker Public Library, Aug 25. The donation was part of a larger pilot project that will see libraries in Black Diamond, Okotoks and Airdrie also receive monitors.

The future is bright for the Irricana Public Library. In recent months, the library has seen increased programming, more advanced technology and a higher level of customer service.

Airdrie Stay and Play is now accepting registration for the fall 2010 session. The program runs on Tuesdays from 9:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. from Sept. 14 to Dec. 14. Registration will begin on Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Iron Horse Park.

Cooper’s Crossing is the site of Airdrie’s first million-dollar showhome. Local developer Copper Rock Homes couldn’t be happier with its product and used Airdrie-based Marre Design Firm to design the house.
