While attendance was somewhat pre-empted by other late June events, the hostesses of Irricana’s second annual High Tea were pleased with the results and thoroughly enjoyed the day of fancy dress, delicious food, interesting displays and genteel conversation.

Pouring High Tea were several long-time Irricana residents and some of the ladies enjoyed bringing their daughters out for an afternoon reminiscent of the peaceful afternoons enjoyed a century ago.

The only blackberries found at this Tea were in the baking!

Homemade scones were served with home preserved raspberry jam and Devonshire cream. Next served were dainty sandwiches, cucumbers and sweet treats with only fine china allowed on this special day.

The third annual High Tea planned for July 10, 2011 will commemorate Irricana’s 100th birthday and will incorporate a centennial theme along with many door prizes and special features.
