Several County roads will be affected by an Ironman competition, Aug. 1.

The Viterra Ironman 70.3 will take place with the first of 1,500 athletes entering Ghost Lake at 6:10 a.m.

A 90-kilometre bike course will follow, with cyclists riding on Highway 1A between Ghost Lake and Cochrane, and will then turn right on Highway 22.

Calgary’s North Glenmore Park will be closed to traffic and bicycles, strollers, rollerblades and skateboards will not be allowed on the pedestrian or cycling paths between the Canoe Club in North Glenmore Park, south and west to the Weaselhead and east to the Calgary Yacht club. No roads will be closed, but motorists are advised there will be delays as police, sheriffs and officials stop traffic to allow the athletes safe passage.
