Heart of the Community will be celebrating Father’s Day with a special themed market June 2 at DayBreak Community Church.

Heart of the Community’s Father’s Day Market June 2 will give shoppers the opportunity to find the perfect gift for dad while enjoying a day out at a fun event. “I did a Mother’s Day one, so I wanted to follow it up by celebrating everything about dads, too,” said event organizer Tamara Hiltz. According to Hiltz, this themed market will include a wide range of vendors selected with dad in mind – rustic furniture, woodworking, health items and more. However, she added there will also be something for everyone at the market, including bath products, cleaning products and a variety of homemade crafts. “It’s not all geared to fathers – it’s hard to do a show that’s really just for them,” Hiltz said. “But I am hoping to have a bunch of classic and souped-up cars to bring the guys in, with some vendors outside as well as indoors.” The market will also give dads the opportunity to win a number of prizes. According to Hiltz, the event features a barbecue grand prize that all fathers are welcome to enter to win, and added each vendor will have a contest of their own, as well. “We’ll even have live entertainment, starting at 11 a.m.,” she said. “It’s a fun opportunity to come out and celebrate dad.” Fathers sometimes “go unnoticed,” Hiltz said, since often it is the mother receiving flowers and chocolates and being appreciated. However, this market is a chance for women to let the fathers in their lives know how important they are, she said. “Like mothers, fathers work really hard – sometimes 16 or more hours a day – to provide for their families,” Hiltz said. “But they don’t usually get the attention and the, ‘Hey, you’re doing an awesome job.’ It’s our job as wives and mothers to let them know they are appreciated, too.” The market also gives shoppers the chance to purchase gifts from local small business owners, Hiltz said – keeping their money in the community to boost the economy and support those working from home to provide for their families. “You’ll also be able to find unique items, stuff you’re not able to find in the stores,” Hiltz said. “It’s bringing the community together.” Heart of the Community’s Father’s Day Market will be held June 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at DayBreak Community Church.
