Big Springs Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning Ltd.

As a service-oriented company, Big Springs Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning has worked diligently over the past 40 years providing top-quality services to residential homes and commercial properties.

Big Springs began as a small home-based business in 1980 with one Owner/Operator, Gus Gauthier, primarily servicing small town Airdrie. In the mid-90's Gus’s oldest sons started to work for the company, and all four of his sons obtained their plumbing and gas tickets while working for the family business. The turn of the millennium brought on board the two youngest sons, Matt and Mike, who currently own and operate the company. The business now operates from an office in southeast Airdrie and has a staff of twelve dedicated employees.

Our highly trained staff are dedicated to superior customer service and exceptional workmanship. By assisting clients with their plumbing and heating needs, no matter how large or small, we have been rewarded with a high level of customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Big Springs is very proud to be part of Airdrie’s business community and we take pride in the long-standing relationships that we have built over the past 40 years and the amazing people that we have met along the way.

Flavours of Montreal

Flavours of Montreal

You’ve had poutine but have you tried our Newfie Poutine? How about a towering slice of New York cheesecake? Or how about the pièce de résistance… succulent sandwiches brimming with authentic, hand carved Montreal smoked meat? You can get all this and more at Flavours of Montreal.

Originally from Nova Scotia, we decided to move to Airdrie to be closer to two of our kids and their families. We asked around and saw that Airdrie was lacking a restaurant with our concept, so we started out with our authentic Montreal smoked meat and later added on our bakery items and sweets,” say Owners Carolyn and Jacques. “We don’t use additives, fillers, or preservatives. This is real quality food with an East coast flair – down home deliciousness! Come and try us. If you don’t like it, we’ll buy it back.”

Flavours of Montreal opened on May 3, 2019, and since then have operated through bouts of construction and now the pandemic. However, the doors are open and customers are flocking in; a testament of the good food and great service on offer.

“Selection changes regularly so keep up to date on Facebook to get notified of new items,” they conclude.

McKee Homes Ltd
Home Builders

McKee Homes Ltd

McKee Homes began building quality crafted homes in Airdrie in 1987 and has helped grow Airdrie from a population of 10,000 to nearly 80,000 – 33 years later. The Company has been recognized for its work in the Best of Airdrie Reader’s Choice Awards taking home gold for ‘Best Home Builder’ for 2020.

“We are honored to have been selected for this award for the 12th straight year. It reinforces what we strive to accomplish each and every day for our homeowners and community alike.” said Ryan Doel, Marketing Analyst and Coordinator of McKee Homes.

The McKee family immigrated to Canada in 1981 from Northern Ireland and was planning to make Calgary their home. But, coming from a small farm, the family didn’t find the large city to be a great fit. Instead, they went house hunting in Airdrie and fell in love.

Around 2001, Elaine McKee Doel became president of McKee Homes and in 2006 her father passed away. The company is now in the capable hands of Elaine, her husband Rob, and her sister Grace McKee.

“My dad always used an example of a three-legged stool with the idea being that a three-legged stool will not stand if any one leg is missing”, Elaine said. “The three values that we’re based on are quality, integrity and honesty. We took those values as our core and have built our mission and vision around them.”

Dairy Queen - Airdrie

Dairy Queen - Airdrie

When Trent Beday moved from British Columbia 22 years ago, he was looking for opportunities in Alberta. He landed in Airdrie and although he didn’t know it at time, he found his calling when he purchased the Dairy Queen on Edmonton Trail.

He had no idea at that time that Airdrie would grow to be almost four times in size or that he would open two more locations (Kingsview Market in 2015 and Coopers Promenade in 2017). Career opportunity wasn’t the only thing he found in Airdrie. It was also where he met his wife, Sasha, and they are now raising two children.

Beday believes in giving back and supports many minor sports teams in the city. When he’s not working in one of his three restaurants, he can be found helping to plan Dairy Queen’s main fundraiser, Miracle Treat Day. Most years his locations raise over $30,000 (in one day) for Children’s Miracle Network® Member Hospitals. This year, things will look a little different.

He explains, “COVID-19 derailed this year’s Miracle Treat Day, but we still found a way to be supportive. DQ Fans supported our Treat Week – Drive Thru option with over $9000.00 raised. Thank You to our loyal customers.”
