The 2021 Home Hardware Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship has begun and we are pleased to congratulate Chris Parent on winning the first draw in Curling Alberta’s Share the Love with Your Club 50/50 raffle. Not only does he take home a big cash prize of $6,250, but a portion of his ticket purchase will go to directly support the Thistle Curling Club, the oldest curling club in Edmonton.
While Chris is not a curler, other members of his family and circle of friends are. Through one of those people sharing the Thistle Curling Club’s designated link, Chris decided to enter Thursday night’s draw.
Winning couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. “It’s quite timely,” said Chris. “I just bought a new RV and am picking it up this weekend. This will go a long way in helping to pay that off.”
Currently working in IT for Alberta Health Services, Chris is also an avid outdoorsman, spending his time camping, fishing and snowboarding. He and his wife have a new American Eskimo puppy that will be breaking in that new RV on their camping adventures throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan this summer.
“We go sailing every summer as well,” adds Chris, “so some of the winnings will go towards our annual sailing trip.”
