Thurs. Mar 11: 50/50 Raffle Winner of $8,105

Congratulations are in order for Cheryl Scarlett of Strathcona County, for being the big cash winner in Curling Alberta’s $16, 210 jackpot on Thursday. Cheryl’s winning ticket means she brings home $8,105.

“It was a really pleasant surprise,” said Cheryl. “Every time you go to an event or watch like the Scotties and the Brier, you have to play the 50/50. It’s important to support and give back a bit. And if you win? That’s really exciting.”

Cheryl curled for many years and her last home club was in Ardrossan. While she doesn’t curl actively anymore, she loves watching curling, especially when she was able to get out to some of the events around Alberta. Like many fans, she is enjoying seeing the return of live curling action.

“All the teams are fabulous, particularly now we are in to playoffs. I always love cheering for Team Alberta, but deep down in my heart, I have to go for Bottcher’s team,” said Cheryl. “It’s also been really exciting to see Wayne Middaugh back out there, he’s been great. It was also nice to see some of the underdogs win a game or two.”

During the warmer months, Cheryl and her husband like the outdoors and spend their time gardening, taking care of their yard, and off-grid camping in and around Alberta. They are looking forward to when they can get out again use some of their winnings to do something special with their family.
