“I couldn’t sleep last night and got up and checked the numbers. I was like ‘whaaat?’ This is right, right?”

Today is Curling Day in Canada and Friday night’s 50/50 winner, Tina George is celebrating it with her big cash prize of $9,920.

Originally from Smoky Lake, which happens to be the Pumpkin Capital of Alberta, Tina grew up watching curling with her parents and played while in high school. Today she lives just outside Plamondon, in Lac La Biche County and works as assistant CAO for the Village of Boyle.

While she hasn’t been on the ice in several years, Tina continues to be an avid curling fan and is enjoying watching the 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Since it began on February 19, she has been buying 50/50 tickets. Even after checking and doublechecking her ticket numbers, she couldn’t quite believe it.

“It feels amazing,” said Tina.

Tina and her boyfriend plan to use the money towards purchasing a hot tub and are looking forward to having some camping adventures this summer. Congratulations, Tina on your big win and thank you for supporting Curling Alberta’s 50/50 raffle, presented by Boston Pizza.

It is the final weekend of the 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and Curling Day in Canada. Thank you to the thousands of fans for helping us Spread the Love to create a lasting legacy for our sport and helping to raise funds to support the growth, access, development and leadership of curling, right here in Alberta. Tickets can be purchased from 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM MST and can be purchased here. (LL#570519)
