Yoga in the Park has returned to Crossfield. Classes are held every Saturday and are free thanks to collaboration between instructor Cheryl Hoff and Dream Development.

Yoga instructor Cheryl Hoff has collaborated with Dream Development once again this year to offer free yoga classes in Crossfield’s Amery Park. According to Hoff, the Yoga in the Park classes will be held every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. – weather permitting – until Sept. 25.

“Absolutely everybody is welcome. Even if you’ve never even done yoga before, please come,” Hoff said. “It’s going to be very chill classes – everybody’s just getting back into it, so we’re taking it nice and slow.”

The first class was held on Aug. 7, and Hoff said it was so exciting to have everyone come together for the session. She said last year’s Yoga in the Park was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and public health restrictions limited her from holding any type of classes throughout the last year.

The experienced instructor said she is feeling “absolutely wonderful” about finally being able to bring an activity she loves back to the community at no cost to patrons.

Hoff said that she is looking forward to bringing the community together with exercise that benefits both physical and mental health. She explained that being with others while practicing yoga is part of what makes the experience enjoyable.

“The energy of other people is so uplifting so when we gather together to do a yoga class versus virtually. It’s not the same on your own as it is doing it together,” she said.

Crossfield residents interested in taking in some morning yoga on the weekends are invited to come to the park located in the Vista Crossing neighbourhood with a yoga mat, water bottle and appropriate clothing. The sessions will be held every Saturday for the remainder of August and September, as long as weather cooperates.
