Phase 1 – Submission of Names: Between February 9th – March 17th, Airdronians submit their name suggestions online.
Phase 2 – Popularity Vote: Between March 22th and April 28th - Customers vote for their choice amongst the chosen five in person at Smittys, Airdrie
Round 1 of the Name the Lounge Contest is Complete. The Smitty’s team wish to thank you all for your eager participation and fantastic suggestions. There were many great suggestions, and it was a difficult choice. The Smitty’s team narrowed down to the following five choices.
Finalists for the Name the Lounge Contest:
1) The East Lake Lounge – This name captures our location and the fact that we have been the East Lake community’s favourite lounge for a long time
2) The Flying Puck – We are so close to some great arenas, and we are big fans of hockey!
3) The Whistle & Tower Pub – Airdrie started as a whistle stop on the railway route hence the Whistle, and a reference to our iconic water tower landmark !
4) The Forge - Smitty’s comes from Smith as in black smith hence the forge!
5) The Highland – Fun fact , Airdrie is the highest located city in Canada! .
From here voting for the winning name will take place on location at Smitty’s Airdrie.

The above names were submitted by numerous participants. Once the winning name is chosen, we will then do a random draw of each participant that had the winning name as their entry.
You can vote in person from Friday March 24th – April 28th
The winning name and person will be announced on April 29th
Rules and regulations:
- From Feb 9th, 2023 until March 17th, 2023, People will be able to submit suggestions for a new name for the lounge located in Smitty's Airdrie below.
- Participants can submit multiple names.
- Smitty’s Team will select what they believe are the most suitable 5 out of all submissions.
- From March 18th until April 28th, Airdronians visiting Smittys can vote on their choice amongst the 5 finalists
- If there are multiple submissions of the same lounge name and it wins, a random draw between those submitting entries will be chosen as the winner.
- Winners must be 18 years of age or older
- Prize has no cash value
- Contest Winner(s) contacted by phone/email.
- Staff & family members of the Great West Media are not eligible.
- Smitty's Airdrie Employees are not permitted to participate.

Prizes:
Winning Name: The person who wins the naming contest through the popularity vote will receive an order of chicken wings or any one appetizer of choice and beverage of choice, every week for an entire year. The beverage can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic.
Voters Prize: Drawn randomly from all the people who voted. They too, will receive an order of chicken wings or an appetizer of choice and beverage of choice for an entire year.
Participant Prizes: There will be four winners drawn from all the unsuccessful name suggestions. Each of the four will receive an order of chicken wings and beverage of choice every week for six months.
