The McPhail family of Airdrie is trying to raise money to buy a new accessible van for their six-year-old son Bronson, who has Cerebral Palsy

Airdrie residents will see the firetruck responding to calls in the community throughout October, and when the crews are finished addressing emergency events, they will connect with the public and share stories of their personal experiences involving cancer.

Libraries across Canada use the month of October to raise awareness of the valuable role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in the lives and communities they serve.

Airdrie residents donned orange shirts and listened on Sept. 30, during the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. Local activities included the erecting of a teepee in Nose Creek Regional Park, speeches, a walk to City Hall (which was adorned in orange lights at night) and the painting of orange footsteps in the Nose Creek Park pathways.

“[The scholarships] are granted to those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their contributions towards charitable activities within their communities and have consistently excelled academically,” the press release stated.

“Now that we’ve received your feedback, we can take that back to our consulting team and see what other options are available, while still meeting the intent with the things you do like about the building,” he said.
