When Airdrie resident Stacie Gaetz’s mother-in-law, Anne-Marie Gaetz, was unable to find an online retailer offering the kind of personalized gift she was hoping to give her grandkids for Christmas, she turned to Gaetz for help.

Keeping kids safe during Halloween while still letting them have a ghoulish good time led organizers to start the annual Boo at the Creek event, held Oct. 27 at Nose Creek Park.

The upcoming Halloween Howler – hosted by Airdrie band Steady the Wheel – promises to be a spooky good time, and will benefit a great cause.

The old fire hall on Main Street will be transformed into the scariest spot in the city for 10 days in October, as the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie (BGCA) prepares to host its seventh annual AIRSCARES event.

A new award – the Franchise Business award – will be handed out at the Airdrie Business Awards Gala Oct. 18, according to executive director of the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce (ACC) Marilyne Aalhus.

Airdrie’s 50+ Club continues to contend with a need for additional space, and president Myrtle Brewster hopes the community will rally around the club to see that need met. “We do not have the space to develop our programming,” Brewster said.
